5-Day Adventurous Itinerary for Delhi in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit Qutub Minar
    30 minutes (8.6 miles) from Indira Gandhi International Airport

    In the morning, visit the iconic Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in the world. The complex also houses the Iron Pillar of Delhi, which has stood for over 1600 years without rusting. In the afternoon, head to Hauz Khas Village, a trendy suburb filled with cafes, boutique stores, and art galleries. In the evening, watch a light and sound show at the Red Fort.

  2. Day 2: Explore Dilli Haat
    20 minutes (5.3 miles) from Qutub Minar

    Spend the morning at Dilli Haat, a vibrant marketplace filled with handicrafts, textiles, and jewellery. There are also several food stalls serving delicious regional cuisine. In the afternoon, head to the National Museum, which has a vast collection of artefacts from Indian history. In the evening, visit the Lotus Temple, a beautiful Bahai House of Worship.

  3. Day 3: Go on a Wildlife Safari at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 10 minutes (16 miles) from Lotus Temple

    Spend the morning at Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, home to several species of birds, reptiles, and mammals. The sanctuary also has several hiking trails, which offer stunning views of the surrounding landscape. In the afternoon, visit the Nehru Planetarium, which has several interactive exhibits about space and astronomy. In the evening, head to the India Gate, a war memorial and a popular spot for picnics.

  4. Day 4: Try Adventure Sports at Adventures Island
    40 minutes (13 miles) from India Gate

    Head to Adventures Island, an amusement park with several thrilling rides and attractions. The park also offers adventure sports such as ziplining and rock climbing. In the afternoon, visit the Humayun's Tomb, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the final resting place of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. In the evening, watch the sunset at the Hauz Khas Fort.

  5. Day 5: Trek to the Top of Tughlaqabad Fort
    30 minutes (9.1 miles) from Hauz Khas Fort

    Start the day with a trek to the top of Tughlaqabad Fort, a 14th-century citadel built by the Tughlaq dynasty. The fort offers panoramic views of the city and is a popular spot for birdwatching. In the afternoon, head to the Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi. In the evening, visit the Akshardham Temple, a massive Hindu temple complex.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, and the Chandni Chowk market, which is famous for its street food and traditional bazaars. You can also take a day trip to Agra to see the iconic Taj Mahal. To maximize your fun, try some of the local street food such as chaat, samosas, and parathas.
