Begin your adventure by embarking on a trek to Kedarnath Temple, one of the four sacred shrines in Hindu mythology. The trek starts from Sonprayag, a small town located on the banks of the Mandakini river, and takes approximately 6-7 hours. The trail offers stunning views of the Himalayan range and you will be passing through lush green forests, beautiful waterfalls, and small villages along the way. After reaching Kedarnath Temple, spend the evening exploring the temple complex and attending the evening aarti.
Start your day early with a trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by mountains. The trek is moderately difficult and takes around 4-5 hours. After spending some time at the lake, head back to Kedarnath and visit Bhairon Temple, located a few hundred meters away from the main temple. The temple is dedicated to Bhairav, an incarnation of Lord Shiva, and is believed to protect the region from natural calamities.
On your last day, embark on a trek to Chorabari Glacier, also known as Gandhi Sarovar. The trek is challenging and takes around 9-10 hours to complete. The glacier is named after Mahatma Gandhi, who visited the region in 1947. After returning to Kedarnath, head to Gaurikund Hot Springs, located near the town of Gaurikund. The hot springs are believed to have medicinal properties and are a perfect way to relax your tired muscles after a long trek.
If you have extra time, you can consider visiting other nearby attractions such as Triyuginarayan Temple, which is believed to be the venue of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati's wedding, or the beautiful town of Guptkashi, which is located on the banks of the Mandakini river. You can also try other adventure activities such as river rafting or camping. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry appropriate gear and clothing, and stay hydrated throughout your trek. Lastly, don't forget to try the local cuisine, which includes delicacies such as Kachmauli, Bal Mithai, and Singori.
