Discovering Cumbum in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Cumbum Lake
    10 minutes (2.1km) from Cumbum Bus Station

    In the morning, head to Cumbum Lake, a serene and picturesque spot perfect for fishing and boating. Take a boat ride and enjoy the scenic beauty of the lake. Relax and enjoy the breeze. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Cumbum Valley Winery and Vineyards, where you can taste some of the finest wines in the region. In the evening, head to Sri Nihari Restaurant for some mouth-watering Indian cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Periyar Tiger Reserve
    1 hour 20 minutes (43.3km) from Cumbum Lake

    Start your day early and head to Periyar Tiger Reserve, home to many exotic species of flora and fauna. Enjoy a guided trek through the forest and spot some wild animals in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, visit the Mangala Devi Temple, situated in the heart of the forest. You will require permission from the forest department to visit the temple. In the evening, head back to Cumbum for some delicious dinner at Anjappar Chettinad Restaurant.

  3. Day 3: Megamalai
    1 hour 30 minutes (55.5km) from Periyar Tiger Reserve

    On your last day in Cumbum, take a scenic drive to Megamalai, a beautiful hill station with breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. Visit the Megamalai Falls, Highwavys Dam, and the Megamalai Wildlife Sanctuary. Enjoy a peaceful picnic lunch amidst the lush greenery and serene surroundings. In the evening, head back to Cumbum and visit the Cumbum Market, where you can find a variety of local fruits, vegetables, and spices.
