2-Day Itinerary for Shimogga in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Jog Falls
    1 hour 30 minutes (61.4 km) from Shimogga

    In the morning, visit Jog Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India. The view of the waterfall cascading down from a height of 830 feet is magnificent. You can also trek down to the bottom of the falls for a closer look. In the afternoon, visit the Linganmakki Dam which is just 16 km from Jog Falls. This dam built across the Sharavathi River offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and forests. In the evening, head back to Shimogga and visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to tigers, elephants, leopards, and several species of birds.

  2. Day 2: Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (45 km) from Shimogga

    In the morning, head to the Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary, which is home to several migratory birds such as egrets, cormorants, and herons. It is a serene place to relax and enjoy nature. In the afternoon, visit the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp, which is just 26 km from the bird sanctuary. You can watch elephants being bathed and fed. You can also take a ride on an elephant. In the evening, head back to Shimogga and visit the Sakrebyle Lake, which is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset and relax.
