5-Day Adventure Itinerary: Ahmedabad - Gujarat - Dwaraka in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Ahmedabad

    In the morning, visit the Sabarmati Ashram, a historic site and former residence of Mahatma Gandhi. Afternoon, head to Adalaj Stepwell, an ancient water reservoir that features magnificent sculptures and intricate stone carvings. In the evening, explore the Kankaria Lake, a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the view.

  2. Day 2: Ahmedabad
    50 minutes (14 km) from Downtown Ahmedabad

    In the morning, visit the Calico Museum of Textiles, a fascinating museum that showcases India's textile heritage. Afternoon, head to the Sarkhej Roza, a beautiful mosque and tomb complex that is known for its unique architecture. In the evening, take a walk through the Law Garden, a vibrant market selling handicrafts, jewellery, and traditional clothing.

  3. Day 3: Ahmedabad to Gujarat
    5 hours (279 km) from Ahmedabad

    In the morning, drive to the Gir Forest National Park, a wildlife sanctuary that is home to the Asiatic lion. Afternoon, go on a jungle safari and spot some of the park's incredible wildlife. In the evening, relax at the Gir Birding Lodge and enjoy a traditional Gujarati dinner.

  4. Day 4: Gujarat to Dwaraka
    4 hours (230 km) from Gir Forest National Park
    Estimated time of arrival: 9am

    In the morning, visit the Somnath Temple, a famous Shiva temple that is located on the Arabian Sea coast. Afternoon, drive to Dwarkadhish Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. In the evening, take a dip in the Gomti River and visit the Rukmini Devi Temple.

  5. Day 5: Dwaraka
    10 minutes (3 km) from Downtown Dwaraka
    Estimated time of arrival: 9am

    In the morning, explore the Beyt Dwarka, an island off the coast of Dwaraka that is believed to be the original abode of Lord Krishna. Afternoon, visit the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the 12 jyotirlingas in India. In the evening, enjoy a sunset boat ride and watch the Aarti at Dwarkadhish Temple.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, visit the Rann of Kutch, a unique salt desert located in the neighbouring state of Gujarat. You can also go on a camel safari or visit the Kutch Museum in Bhuj. Don't forget to sample some of the local delicacies like dhokla, fafda, and theplas.
