Four-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary: Auroville, Pondicherry, Kodikanal - October 2023

  1. Day 1: Auroville
    18 minutes (7.8 km) from Pondicherry

    In the morning, head to the Visitor Centre to learn about Auroville, its history and philosophy. After that, visit the Matrimandir, the Golden Globe, and the Peace Area. Grab lunch at any of the cafes or restaurants in the area. In the afternoon, explore the various pavilions around the city, including the Tibetan Pavilion and the French Pavilion. In the evening, take part in the cultural events happening around the city or spend some time at one of the beaches nearby.

  2. Day 2: Pondicherry
    3 hours 30 minutes (156 km) from Auroville

    Begin your day at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, an important spiritual center that houses the samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. Afterward, take a stroll through the French Quarter, admiring the colonial architecture and stop for lunch at a local eatery. In the afternoon, visit the Pondicherry Museum and the Bharathi Park. End the day with a visit to the Gandhi Statue and a walk along the Promenade Beach.

  3. Day 3: Kodaikanal
    7 hours (400 km) from Pondicherry

    Start your day early and head to Kodaikanal. Once there, visit the Kodaikanal Lake and spend some time boating or cycling around the lake. Have lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. In the afternoon, explore the Bryant Park and the Coaker's Walk. End your day with a visit to the Pillar Rocks.

  4. Day 4: Kodaikanal
    Explore the surroundings of Kodaikanal

    Spend your last day in Kodaikanal exploring the surrounding areas. Visit the Bear Shola Falls and the Silver Cascade Falls. Take a walk through the Pine Forest and the Moir Point. End your day with a visit to the Kurinji Andavar Temple and the Palani Viewpoint.
