5-Day Uttar Pradesh Itinerary for November 2023

  1. Day 1: Taj Mahal, Agra
    3 hours 10 minutes (130 miles) from Indira Gandhi Airport

    Marvel at the stunning beauty of the Taj Mahal, one of the world's most iconic landmarks, during sunrise. Explore the surrounding gardens and learn about the history and architecture of the monument.   2. Day 2: Fatehpur Sikri & Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (25 miles) from Agra

    Take a day trip to the deserted Mughal city of Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the palace complex and learn about the history of the city. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, home to over 230 species of birds, including the Siberian Crane. Take a boat ride and enjoy the scenic beauty of the sanctuary.

  3. Day 3: Varanasi
    10 hours 30 minutes (432 miles) from Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

    Experience the spiritual capital of India, Varanasi. Take a boat ride at sunrise on the Ganges River and witness the daily rituals of the locals. Explore the narrow lanes of the city on foot. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti, a prayer ceremony held on the banks of the river.

  4. Day 4: Sarnath & Lucknow
    4 hours 30 minutes (180 miles) from Varanasi

    Visit Sarnath, a Buddhist pilgrimage site, where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon. Explore the ruins of various stupas and monasteries, including the famous Dhamek Stupa. In the afternoon, drive to Lucknow, the city of Nawabs, and explore the historical monuments, including the Bara Imambara and the Rumi Darwaza. In the evening, head to Hazratganj, a popular shopping and dining district of Lucknow.

  5. Day 5: Ayodhya & Departure
    3 hours 30 minutes (135 miles) from Lucknow

    Visit the birthplace of Lord Rama and the site of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. Explore the various temples and historical sites of Ayodhya. In the afternoon, drive back to Indira Gandhi Airport for your departure flight.

Other attractions to consider include the Allahabad Fort, the Chambal Wildlife Sanctuary, and the Dudhwa National Park. For a side trip, visit the city of Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
