4-Day Itinerary for Puri in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jagannath Temple
    15 minutes (4.7 km) from Puri Beach

    In the morning, we will visit the famous Jagannath Temple which is one of the four most sacred temples in India. It is believed that visiting the temple can bring spiritual enlightenment and blessings. Afternoon, we will go to Puri Beach for some relaxation and enjoy the beautiful sunset. For the evening, we will attend the Sand Art Exhibition at the beach.

  2. Day 2: Chilika Lake
    45 minutes (50.8 km) from Puri Beach

    In the morning, we will take a boat ride to explore the Chilika Lake, the largest saltwater lake in Asia. The lake is home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, including dolphins and migratory birds. The boat ride will last for about two hours. In the afternoon, we will visit the Raghurajpur Artist Village, where we can witness the ancient art of Pattachitra painting. We will return to Puri for the evening.

  3. Day 3: Konark Sun Temple
    35 minutes (34.6 km) from Puri Beach

    In the morning, we will visit the Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple is famous for its stunning architecture, depicting the chariot of the sun god. We will then proceed to Ramchandi Beach for some relaxation and water sports activities such as jet skiing and parasailing. In the evening, we will enjoy the cultural program at the beach.

  4. Day 4: Pipili Village
    30 minutes (18.7 km) from Puri Beach

    In the morning, we will visit the Pipili Village, famous for its applique work. We can witness the artisans at work and purchase some souvenirs. Afternoon, we will visit the Gundicha Temple, considered to be the summer abode of Lord Jagannath. The temple is surrounded by beautiful gardens and is a great place for some relaxation. For the evening, we will go to the Puri Beach Market for some shopping and local street food.

Recommendations

Aside from the attractions listed in the itinerary, you may also want to consider visiting the Puri Beach Festival which takes place in November. Side trips to nearby destinations such as Bhubaneswar and Konark can also be arranged. To maximize your fun, you can try learning some traditional Odissi dance or cooking some local dishes. Lastly, don't forget to try the famous local delicacy, the Chenna Poda, a cheese dessert.
