4-Day Adventure Itinerary for Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahakal Temple
    10 minutes (1.5 km) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

    One of the most revered temples in India, Mahakal Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Early in the morning, you can attend the Bhasma Aarti, where the presiding deity is worshipped with ashes. After breakfast, visit the Vedha Shala Observatory, established in the 17th century. It houses a collection of ancient astronomical instruments. In the evening, head to the Kaliadeh Palace, located on the banks of the Shipra river and enjoy the stunning sunset views.

  2. Day 2: Kal Bhairav Temple and Rangoon Garden
    15 minutes (2.5 km) from Mahakal Temple

    Start your day by visiting the Kal Bhairav Temple, another popular shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that Lord Kal Bhairav protects the city of Ujjain. Next, head to the Rangoon Garden, which houses a variety of flora and fauna. Take a stroll around the park and enjoy the natural beauty. In the evening, visit the Bhartrihari Caves, located on the banks of the Shipra River. These caves have great historical importance and are associated with the famous poet, Bhartrihari.

  3. Day 3: Chintaman Ganesh Temple and Pipliyapala Regional Park
    20 minutes (4.2 km) from Kal Bhairav Temple

    Begin your day by visiting the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, located on the outskirts of Ujjain. It is one of the oldest and most important temples in Ujjain, and it is believed that Lord Ganesha resides here. Afterward, head to the Pipliyapala Regional Park, which is famous for its musical fountain and giant wheel. Enjoy the various rides and attractions in the park. In the evening, head to the Ram Ghat, located on the banks of the Kshipra river and witness the grand Aarti ceremony.

  4. Day 4: Sandipani Ashram and Siddhavat
    20 minutes (6 km) from Chintaman Ganesh Temple

    On your last day in Ujjain, visit the Sandipani Ashram, which is believed to be the place where Lord Krishna and Sudama received their education. The ashram also houses a beautiful garden and a museum. Afterward, head to the Siddhavat, a sacred banyan tree that is believed to fulfill the wishes of those who tie a thread around its trunk. In the evening, enjoy some local street food from the Sarafa Bazaar, which is famous for its chaat and sweets.
