Shoestring Budget 5-Day Goa Itinerary - August 2023

  1. Day 1: Calangute Beach
    47 minutes (15.3 km) from Goa International Airport

    Start your day with the sunrise at Calangute Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Goa. Enjoy a morning swim or surf before grabbing breakfast at one of the many local cafes. Afternoon, explore the nearby market and try some street food. Evening, head to Baga Beach for some live music and drinks.

  2. Day 2: Fontainhas
    24 minutes (10.4 km) from Calangute Beach

    Visit the charming Latin Quarter of Goa, Fontainhas, in the morning. Walk through the colourful streets and take in the Portuguese architecture. Stop for a traditional Goan lunch at Venite Restaurant. Afternoon, visit the nearby famous Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. End the day with a sunset cruise on Mandovi River.

  3. Day 3: Dudhsagar Falls
    1 hour 50 minutes (67.6 km) from Fontainhas

    Start your day early with a trip to Dudhsagar Falls, one of the most majestic waterfalls in India. Take a guided jeep safari through the Mollem National Park and enjoy a swim in the natural pool. Bring a picnic lunch or enjoy the local food stalls. Afternoon, visit the nearby Tambdi Surla Temple before heading back.

  4. Day 4: Anjuna Flea Market

Afternoon, visit the nearby Sinquerim Beach for some water sports. End your trip with a seafood dinner at Britto's Restaurant, one of the oldest and most famous restaurants in Goa.

Recommendations

If you have more time, visit the beautiful beaches of Palolem and Agonda in South Goa. Take a day trip to the Spice Plantations and enjoy an elephant ride. For a unique experience, attend a silent disco party at Club Cubana in Arpora. To save money, rent a scooter and explore the city on your own.

For side trips, visit the neighbouring state of Karnataka and explore the scenic Gokarna Beach, or travel to the nearby Dudhia Village for some authentic yoga and meditation experiences.

Maximise your fun by attending the Sunburn Festival, one of the biggest music festivals in Asia, held annually in December. Try the local seafood, especially the fish curry rice and prawn vindaloo. Pack light and comfortable clothes and don't forget your sunscreen and insect repellent.
