4-Day Adventure Itinerary for Wayanad, Shrooms in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 15 minutes (25.3 km) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, start your adventure by hiking to the top of the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek is about 4.5 km and takes around 3-4 hours. You will witness breathtaking views of the entire district from the top. After a picnic lunch at the peak, head towards the heart-shaped lake, which is believed to have never dried up.   2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves

    In the morning, explore the ancient Edakkal Caves, known for their mysterious carvings and engravings. The 1.5 km trek to the top takes around 45 minutes and offers a scenic view of the Western Ghats. After lunch, visit the nearby Soochipara Falls, which cascade down from a height of 200 meters. End the day with a jeep safari in the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary, home to elephants, tigers, and leopards.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam

    In the morning, head towards the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India, for kayaking and bamboo rafting. After lunch, visit the nearby Meenmutty Falls, which require a 2 km trek through the forest. End the day with a visit to the Thirunelli Temple, a 3000-year-old temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated amidst the Brahmagiri Hills.

  4. Day 4: Karapuzha Dam
    1 hour 23 minutes (42.1 km) from Banasura Sagar Dam

    In the morning, visit the Karapuzha Dam, perfect for boating and fishing. After lunch, go for a trek in the nearby Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary, known for its diverse range of birds and plants. End the day with a visit to the nearby Kuruvadweep, a cluster of islands formed by the River Kabini, known for its lush green forests.
