Two-Day Itinerary for Shimla in June 2023

  1. Day 1: The Ridge
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Shimla Bus Stand

    Start your morning by visiting The Ridge, a large open space in the heart of Shimla. It offers a picturesque view of the surrounding mountains, with the Christ Church and State Library located nearby. In the afternoon, visit the Jakhu Hill, where you can see a 108 feet tall statue of Lord Hanuman. The summit of the hill offers a panoramic view of the whole town. In the evening, take a stroll down the Mall Road, the most happening place in Shimla, where you can shop for souvenirs and try local street food.

  2. Day 2: Kufri
    1 hour 20 minutes (16 km) from Shimla

    Start your day early and make your way to Kufri, a small hill station located near Shimla. It is known for its beautiful scenery and adventure activities like skiing, tobogganing, and go-karting. Enjoy the lush greenery and wildlife at the Himalayan Nature Park. In the afternoon, visit the Chail Palace, located 30 minutes away from Kufri, which was once the summer retreat of the Maharaja of Patiala. Take a leisurely walk in the palace gardens, explore the palace museum, and enjoy the scenic view of the surrounding hills. In the evening, head back to Shimla and relax at your hotel.

If you have time, you can also visit the Viceregal Lodge, located 20 minutes away from The Ridge, which was once the summer residence of the British viceroys of India. The Shimla Heritage Walk is another great way to explore the town's colonial history. You can also take a side trip to Mashobra, a scenic hamlet located 13 km away from Shimla.
