Kochi 2-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Fort Kochi
    30 minutes (10.3 km) from Cochin International Airport

    Morning: Start your day in Fort Kochi, a historic town that has a mix of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences. Visit the St. Francis Church, the oldest European church in India, and the nearby Vasco da Gama Square, which has a statue of the Portuguese explorer. Continue your exploration by walking through the picturesque streets lined with colonial-style houses and art galleries.

    Afternoon: For lunch, head to Kashi Art Cafe, which serves renowned European cuisine and has an art gallery. After lunch, see the iconic Chinese Fishing Nets, a popular attraction in Kochi. The fishing nets are used by local fishermen to catch fish and are set up on teak wood and bamboo poles.

    Evening: End your day with a Kathakali performance, a traditional dance-drama that tells Hindu epics. The performance is held at the Kerala Kathakali Centre and lasts for about an hour.

  2. Day 2: Mattancherry
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Fort Kochi

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Palace Museum in Mattancherry. The palace was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and was later renovated by the Dutch. The museum has a collection of murals, portraits, and other artifacts from the Cochin royal family.

After lunch, visit the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations. The synagogue was built in 1568 and has hand-painted blue-and-white Cantonese tiles.

    Evening: End your day by visiting the Indo-Portuguese Museum, which showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Indo-Portuguese community. The museum has a collection of artifacts including furniture, coins, and paintings.
