3-Day Kamakhya Adventure Itinerary in July 2024

  1. Day 1: Kamakhya Temple
    15 minutes (3.2 km) from Guwahati Railway Station

    In the morning, explore the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most famous Hindu pilgrimage centers in India and an important Shakti Peetha. This temple complex is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya and is believed to have originated from the womb of goddess Sati. In the afternoon, head to the Umananda Temple, located on an island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and offers stunning views of Guwahati. In the evening, visit the Assam State Museum, which has a vast collection of antiques, sculptures, and artifacts.

  2. Day 2: Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary
    2 hours 30 minutes (51 km) from Kamakhya Temple

    Start early in the morning and drive to Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the rare one-horned rhinoceros. Take a jeep safari to explore the sanctuary and spot other wildlife such as wild buffalo, elephants, and leopards. After the safari, head to Mayong, known as the "Land of Black Magic," for a unique cultural experience. Here, you can witness traditional magic shows and learn about the history and culture of magic in Assam. In the evening, return to Guwahati.

  3. Day 3: Adventure Sports and Accoland Water Park
    25 minutes (9.7 km) from Guwahati Railway Station

    For the adrenaline junkies, start the day with adventure sports at Shillong Peak, located on the outskirts of Guwahati. Here, you can indulge in activities such as zip-lining, rock climbing, and rappelling. In the afternoon, head to the Accoland Water Park, a popular attraction among locals and tourists alike. This water park has a range of rides and attractions, including water slides, wave pools, and a lazy river. In the evening, head to Fancy Bazar, a bustling market area in Guwahati, for some souvenir shopping and street food.
