4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Vaishnovi Devi Jammu in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Vaishno Devi Temple
    Located in Katra, 42 minutes (20.2 km) from Jammu City
    Estimated time: 8 hours

    In the morning, start with a trek to the Vaishno Devi temple, one of the most respected shrines in India. The temple is located on a hill, and the trek is around 14 kilometers long, which takes around 4-6 hours to complete. After this, we suggest taking a quick lunch break and heading to the Ardh Kuwari Cave, located on the way back to Katra. Spend your afternoon exploring the cave and then take a rest. In the evening, you could visit the Bhairavnath Temple, which is located a short distance away from Vaishno Devi Temple.

  2. Day 2: Bahu Fort
    Located in Jammu City, 12 minutes (3.3 km) from Raghunath Bazaar
    Estimated time: 5 hours

    In the morning, visit the Bahu Fort, which was built by Raja Bahulochan over 3,000 years ago. The fort is situated on a hill overlooking the city and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding areas. After that, visit the Bahu Temple, which is located inside the fort. In the afternoon, head to the Raghunath Bazaar, which is a famous marketplace in Jammu, and try some of the local street food. Spend the evening exploring the bazaar and shopping for souvenirs.

  3. Day 3: Amar Mahal Museum and Library
    Located in Jammu City, 6 minutes (2.5 km) from Bahu Fort
    Estimated time: 4 hours

    In the morning, visit the Amar Mahal Museum and Library, which is a beautiful palace that was built in the 19th century for Raja Amar Singh. The palace has now been converted into a museum, and it houses an impressive collection of paintings, artifacts, and manuscripts. After that, head to the Bagh-e-Bahu, which is a beautiful garden located near the Bahu Fort. In the afternoon, visit the Peer Kho Cave Temple, which is located on a hill and offers stunning views of the surrounding areas. Spend the evening watching the sunset from the temple.

  4. Day 4: Mansar Lake
    Located in Samba District, 1 hour 20 minutes (58 km) from Jammu City
    Estimated time: 6 hours

    In the morning, head to the Mansar Lake, which is a beautiful lake located in the Samba district. The lake is surrounded by hills, and it is considered to be a holy site in Hindu mythology. Spend the morning boating in the lake and exploring the surrounding areas. In the afternoon, visit the Surinsar Lake, which is located nearby. The lake is smaller than Mansar Lake, but it is just as beautiful. Spend some time boating here as well. In the evening, return to Jammu City and enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner.

Aside from the places mentioned above, you could also consider visiting the Mubarak Mandi Palace, which is a stunning palace complex located in the heart of Jammu City. You could also take a day trip to the Patnitop Hill Station, which is located around 3 hours away from Jammu City.
