3-Day Monsoon Itinerary for Gokarna from Mumbai on a Shoestring Budget

  1. Day 1: Gokarna Beach Trek
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Gokarna Railway Station

    In the morning, take a 2-hour trek to the Half Moon Beach, followed by a visit to Om Beach in the afternoon. Take a picnic lunch with you. In the evening, relax and enjoy the sunset at Kudle Beach.

    Start your day with a visit to the ancient Mahabaleshwar Temple. The temple houses the Atmalinga, which is believed to be one of the only two in the world. Then, head to Mirjan Fort, which is a 30-minute drive from the temple. In the afternoon, relax at Belekan Beach.

  3. Day 3: Yana Caves and Vibhooti Waterfalls
    2 hours (61 km) from Gokarna

    Start early in the morning and drive to Yana Caves, which is a 2-hour drive from Gokarna. The unique rock formations of the caves are a sight to behold. Afterward, drive to Vibhooti Waterfalls, which is a 1-hour drive from Yana Caves. Enjoy a refreshing swim before heading back to Gokarna.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can consider visiting the Banana Beach, which is a secluded beach accessible only by boat. You can also try out some of the local seafood at the Mahalasa Fish Stall in Gokarna. To maximize your fun, try to catch the sunrise or sunset at any of the beaches. Don't forget to carry a raincoat or umbrella as it may rain during the monsoon season.
