3-Day Adventure Itinerary for Kerala Wayanad in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    30 minutes (11.8 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, set off on a trek to the Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The 4.5 km trek to the peak is a moderate level trek which offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and hills. Afternoon is the perfect time to visit the Pookode Lake, a scenic freshwater lake surrounded by forests. In the evening, head to the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric rock shelter with fascinating Stone Age carvings.

  2. Day 2: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (33.8 miles) from Kalpetta

    Start your day with a visit to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary where you can spot a wide variety of flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, elephants, and a range of bird species. In the afternoon, head to the Banasura Sagar Dam, India's largest earthen dam where you can enjoy a boat ride and witness the beauty of the dam and surrounding hills. In the evening, visit the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall with a natural pool at the bottom, perfect for a refreshing dip.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple

    In the morning, visit the Thirunelli Temple, one of the oldest temples in Kerala and located in the lap of the Brahmagiri Hills. In the afternoon, head to the Kuruvadweep, a group of small islands formed by the Kabini River, where you can enjoy a nature walk amidst dense forest cover. In the evening, explore the local markets and shops for souvenirs and handicrafts.
