Begin your trek to Rajmachi fort early in the morning. The trek starts from Lonavala station, which is approximately 6 km away from the fort. The trail is scenic, and you will pass through lush green forests and waterfalls. You can enjoy the cool breeze and the tranquil surroundings. After a few hours of trekking, you will reach the top of the fort. You can explore the fort and its ruins and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, you can camp at the fort and stargaze.
After breakfast, start your journey to the Kondhane caves, which are approximately 8 km away from the fort. The caves are an ancient Buddhist rock-cut structure, and the carvings inside depict various Buddhist stories. After exploring the caves, head to Ulhas Valley, which is approximately 7 km away. Here you can enjoy the beautiful views of the valley and the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, return back to Lonavala station to end your trip.
If you have an extra day, you can visit the Karla and Bhaja Caves, which are approximately 10 km away from Lonavala station. These caves are also ancient Buddhist rock-cut structures and have beautiful carvings inside. If you want to explore more forts, you can visit Lohagad fort, which is approximately 15 km away from Lonavala station. You can also plan a side trip to Pawna Lake, which is approximately 25 km away from Rajmachi fort and is known for its scenic beauty and camping spots. Make sure to carry enough water and snacks during the trek, wear comfortable shoes and carry sunscreen and a hat for protection from the sun.
