Iguazu Falls One-Day Itinerary

  1. 8:30AM: Iguazu Falls National Park
    5-minute drive from most hotels

Start your day with a visit to Iguazu Falls National Park, home to one of the world's largest and most awe-inspiring waterfalls. Take a guided tour to learn about the park's history and the flora and fauna that call it home, or explore on your own and take in the breathtaking views.

  2. 11:00AM: Macuco Safari
15-minute drive from Iguazu Falls National Park

Take a break from the falls and experience the jungle from a different perspective with a Macuco Safari boat tour. Journey down the Iguazu River and take in the lush scenery, including several small waterfalls along the way. Keep an eye out for wildlife like monkeys and birds.

  3. 1:00PM: Garganta del Diablo
    20-minute drive from Macuco Safari

Next up is the park's main attraction, the Garganta del Diablo, or Devil's Throat. Take the train from the park entrance to the trailhead, then walk out over the river for a breathtaking view of the falls plunging over 260 feet. Be prepared to get wet from the spray!

  4. 3:00PM: Parque das Aves
10-minute drive from Garganta del Diablo

Cap off your day with a visit to Parque das Aves, a bird park home to over 150 species of birds and other animals. Take a guided tour or explore on your own and get up close to colorful macaws, toucans, and other exotic birds. You can even see some species of birds that are threatened with extinction.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider a boat tour to get even closer to the falls or a helicopter tour for a bird's-eye view. Another option is to visit the nearby Itaipu Dam, one of the world's largest hydroelectric power plants. To maximize your fun, wear comfortable shoes and clothes, bring sunscreen and insect repellant, and stay hydrated. Don't forget to bring your camera to capture all the stunning views. Enjoy!
