A Day Trip to Iguazu Falls

1. 8:00 AM: Iguazu National Park Entrance

2. 9:30 AM: Lower Circuit Trail

   Take the Lower Circuit Trail, which is a 1.5 km walk along the river, where you can experience the falls from the base. The trail takes about one hour to complete and offers fantastic views of the waterfalls. Be prepared to get wet as the mist from the falls will shower you.

3. 11:00 AM: San Martin Island
   20-minute boat ride from Lower Circuit Trail

   Take a boat tour to San Martin Island, located in the middle of the Iguazu River. The island provides spectacular views of the falls, and you can take a dip in the river or hike some of the trails. The boat tour takes approximately 20 minutes, and the island visit duration is around two hours.

4. 1:30 PM: Garganta del Diablo

   Take the train to Garganta del Diablo viewpoint, the most impressive and powerful waterfall in the park. The train ride takes about 30 minutes, and from the station, it's a short walk to the viewpoint. Be prepared to get wet as the falls create a mist that covers everything around the viewpoint.

5. 3:30 PM: Upper Circuit Trail
   15-minute walk from the Garganta del Diablo viewpoint

   Finish off your day with the Upper Circuit Trail, which offers a panoramic view of the falls from the top. The trail takes about an hour to complete and provides a different perspective of the falls. It's a great way to end your day at the park.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the bird park, located near the park entrance, which offers a chance to see various bird species up close. Another side trip is to visit the Itaipu Dam, the world's largest hydroelectric power plant, which offers tours and exhibits. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, bring a rain jacket, and plenty of water. Don't forget to have cash on hand as most places do not accept credit cards.
