6-Day Itinerary for Delhi, Manali, Dalhousie, and Darjeeling in June 2024

  1. Day 1: Delhi
    Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) to downtown Delhi: 30 minutes (10 miles)

    In the morning, visit the iconic Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built-in 1648. Head to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, for afternoon prayers and enjoy a local meal at Paranthe Wali Gali. In the evening, take a rickshaw ride in Chandni Chowk.

  2. Day 2: Manali
    Delhi to Manali: 12 hours (300 miles)

    In the morning, visit Hadimba Temple, a wooden pagoda-style temple nestled amidst cedar trees. Take an afternoon stroll to the Manu Temple dedicated to the sage Manu, who is believed to be the creator of the world. In the evening, enjoy the local street food culture of Old Manali.

  3. Day 3: Dalhousie
    Manali to Dalhousie: 7 hours (180 miles)

    In the morning, visit the Khajjar Lake, also known as the Mini Switzerland of India. In the afternoon, head to the Kalatop Wildlife Sanctuary for a peaceful walk in the woods. In the evening, visit the St. John's Church, a colonial-era church with beautiful stained glass windows.

  4. Day 4: Darjeeling
    Dalhousie to Darjeeling: 20 hours (750 miles)

    In the morning, take a ride on the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, also known as the Toy Train, to Ghum. In the afternoon, visit the Peace Pagoda, a Japanese Buddhist shrine with stunning views of the Himalayas. In the evening, explore the local market and try the famous Darjeeling tea.

  5. Day 5: Darjeeling
    Exploring Darjeeling

    In the morning, visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, home to rare and endangered species like the Red Panda and Snow Leopard. In the afternoon, visit the Batasia Loop, a spiral railway track with a war memorial. In the evening, visit the Ghum Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in Darjeeling.

  6. Day 6: Delhi
    Darjeeling to Delhi: 28 hours (1200 miles)

    In the morning, visit the Tiger Hill viewpoint to witness the stunning sunrise over the Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the Tibetan Refugee Centre. In the evening, depart for Delhi.

Do not miss the opportunity to enjoy a Yak ride at Khajjar Lake. If you want to explore more, take a visit to Rohtang Pass and Solang Valley in Manali. If you have enough time, take a day trip to Gangtok from Darjeeling to explore the local culture and experience the beautiful landscape.
