Kerala 6-Day Itinerary - July 2023

  1. Day 1: Fort Kochi
    1 hour (21.6 km) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, walk around Fort Kochi's historic streets and admire the Portuguese, Dutch and British architecture. Visit the Church of Saint Francis and the Santa Cruz Basilica. In the afternoon, take a ferry to Vypeen Island and spend some time at Cherai Beach. In the evening, watch a Kathakali performance at the Kerala Kathakali Centre.

  2. Day 2: Munnar
    4 hours (130 km) from Fort Kochi

    In the morning, drive to Munnar and stop at the Cheeyappara Waterfalls for a refreshing dip. In the afternoon, visit the tea plantations and learn about the tea-making process at the Tata Tea Museum. In the evening, take a stroll along the famous Mattupetty Dam and enjoy the scenic views.

  3. Day 3: Thekkady
    3 hours (87.5 km) from Munnar

    In the morning, go on a jungle trek in the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary and see elephants, tigers and other wildlife. In the afternoon, visit a spice plantation and learn about the cultivation of cardamom, pepper, and other spices. In the evening, watch a traditional Kalaripayattu martial arts performance.

  4. Day 4: Alleppey
    4 hours (138 km) from Thekkady

    In the morning, take a scenic drive to Alleppey, also known as the Venice of the East. In the afternoon, take a relaxing houseboat ride through the backwaters and enjoy the peaceful scenery. In the evening, experience a traditional Kerala-style dinner on the houseboat.

  5. Day 5: Kovalam
    3 hours (160 km) from Alleppey

    In the morning, enjoy a leisurely drive to Kovalam and visit the Padmanabhapuram Palace en route. In the afternoon, relax on the beaches of Kovalam and try some local seafood. In the evening, take a sunset boat ride and enjoy the beautiful view.

  6. Day 6: Trivandrum
    30 minutes (11.5 km) from Kovalam

    In the morning, visit the Sri Padmanabhaswamy Temple, one of the richest temples in the world. In the afternoon, take a stroll in the Napier Museum and Zoo and learn about the history of Kerala. In the evening, catch a show at the Tagore Theatre.

For side trips, consider visiting the nearby Lakshadweep Islands or taking a tour of the backwater villages.
