Family-Friendly 5-Day Itinerary for Agra, Vrindavan and Mathura in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Agra
    2 hours (126 km) from Delhi Airport

    Morning- Visit the iconic Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Wonders of the World. It is a magnificent white marble mausoleum built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal.

    Afternoon- Explore the Agra Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a 16th-century Mughal monument made of red sandstone. It has beautiful palaces, courtyards, and gardens.

    Evening- Enjoy the Mohabbat-e-Taj Show, a cultural dance and drama performance depicting the love story of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal. It is held at the Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Center.

  2. Day 2: Vrindavan
    2 hours 30 minutes (73 km) from Agra

    Morning- Visit the Banke Bihari Temple, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. It has an amazing architecture, and the idol of Lord Krishna here is black in colour, which is quite unique.

    Afternoon- Head to the Prem Mandir, a beautiful temple complex that showcases various aspects of Lord Krishna's life through light and sound shows and exhibits. The temple is illuminated with colourful lights that create a mesmerizing atmosphere.

    Evening- Attend the Yamuna Aarti, a Hindu ritual where devotees offer lamps to the river Yamuna. It is a beautiful sight to behold and is held at various ghats along the river.

  3. Day 3: Mathura
    30 minutes (15 km) from Vrindavan

    Morning- Visit the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple Complex, a holy site believed to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna. The temple complex has several temples, including the main temple of Lord Krishna.

    Afternoon- Head to the Dwarkadhish Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort Radha. It has a stunning architecture and is one of the most famous temples in Mathura.

    Evening- Explore the Mathura Museum, which houses several ancient artefacts and sculptures dating back to the Kushan period and beyond. It is a great place to learn about the history and culture of the region.

  4. Day 4: Agra
    1 hour 45 minutes (57 km) from Mathura

    Morning- Visit the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, also known as the Baby Taj. It is a beautiful mausoleum made of white marble and is often referred to as a jewel box.

    Afternoon- Explore the Mehtab Bagh, a 16th-century garden complex situated across the river from the Taj Mahal. It offers a stunning view of the Taj Mahal, especially during sunset.

    Evening- Visit the Sadar Bazaar, a bustling market known for its handicrafts, jewellery, and textiles. It is a great place to shop for souvenirs and gifts.

  5. Day 5: Agra
    15 minutes (6.5 km) from Sadar Bazaar

    Morning- Visit the Akbar's Tomb, a grand mausoleum dedicated to the Mughal Emperor Akbar. It is located in Sikandra, on the outskirts of Agra.

    Afternoon- Head to the Agra Bear Rescue Facility, located near the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. It is a great place to learn about conservation efforts and see sloth bears in their natural habitat.

    Evening- Enjoy a beautiful sunset view of the Taj Mahal from the Mehtab Bagh. It is a perfect way to end your trip to Agra.
