If travelers have more time, we recommend you take a trip to the Cristo Redentor (Christ the Redeemer) statue or visit the Jardim Botânico, a famous botanical garden located in Rio de Janeiro. For those with less time, skip one or two of the places, keep Pão de Açúcar and Selaron Steps at all costs, it is a must-do when in Rio de Janeiro.

Airports

Rio de Janeiro–Galeão International Airport (GIG) is located 12 miles away from the city center, whereas the Santos Dumont Airport (SDU) is located at a closer distance of 2.5 miles away. It is convenient to use the Santos Dumont Airport when visiting places in the city center. GIG is commonly utilized for longer trips, as it offers more international flights than SDU.
