3-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry

  1. Day 1: Sri Aurobindo Ashram
    5 minutes (0.8 miles) from Pondicherry Promenade
    9:00 AM - 12:00 PM (Closed on Mondays)

    In the morning, visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram which is dedicated to the philosopher, poet, and spiritual leader Sri Aurobindo. It is a peaceful and tranquil place where you can meditate and learn more about his teachings. Afterward, enjoy a delicious brunch at Cafe des Arts. In the afternoon, head to the Pondicherry Museum to learn about the history and culture of Pondicherry. In the evening, take a stroll along the beautiful Pondicherry Promenade and enjoy the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Auroville
    25 minutes (6.2 miles) from Sri Aurobindo Ashram
    10:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Closed on Tuesdays)

    On day 2, visit the experimental township of Auroville which was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa (The Mother). Start your day with breakfast at Bread & Chocolate. Spend the morning exploring the Matrimandir which is a large golden sphere that represents the soul of Auroville. In the afternoon, visit the Auroville Bamboo Centre to learn about sustainable living and bamboo architecture. In the evening, relax at the Auroville Beach and enjoy the bonfire.

  3. Day 3: Paradise Beach
    30 minutes (8.4 miles) from Auroville
    9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (Open all days)

    On the last day, head to the Paradise Beach which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Pondicherry. Start your day with breakfast at Cafe Xtasi. Spend the morning sunbathing and swimming in the clear blue water. In the afternoon, take a boat ride to the Chunnambar Backwaters and enjoy the scenic views. In the evening, visit the Manakula Vinayagar Temple which is one of the oldest and most famous temples in Pondicherry.
