Bahu Fort is one of the oldest forts in Jammu, located atop a hill overlooking the city. It was built by Raja Bahulochan over 3000 years ago and is home to a temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. The fort offers stunning panoramic views of the Tawi River and the surrounding mountains.
The Ranbireshwar Temple is a historic Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Raghunath Bazaar is a bustling market located in the heart of Jammu. It is known for its handicrafts, especially the famous Dogra jewellery and Pashmina shawls. The market has a variety of shops selling everything from traditional clothing to spices and sweets.
Bagh-e-Bahu is a beautiful garden located at the base of the Bahu Fort hill. The garden has a variety of trees, flowers, and fountains, and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. There is also a small zoo inside the garden which has a few species of animals and birds.
The best way to explore Jammu in a day is to hire a taxi from a reputable agency. A taxi will cost around INR 2000 for the entire day, and will take care of all your transportation needs. Alternatively, you can also use local buses which are cheap but not very convenient or comfortable.
If you have more time, you can explore other places in Jammu such as the Raghunath Temple, Amar Mahal Palace, and the Mubarak Mandi Palace. If you have less time, you can skip the Bagh-e-Bahu garden and spend more time exploring the other places mentioned in the itinerary.
Jammu is served by the Jammu Airport (IXJ), which is located in the city of Jammu itself, about 5 km from the city center. The airport is relatively small and has limited connectivity, with flights to and from a few major cities in India such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Srinagar.
