A Day in Delhi: Exploring the Best of the City

  1. 9:00AM: Qutub Minar
    30 minutes (12.5 km) from Indira Gandhi International Airport

    Start your day by exploring the beautiful complex of Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the tallest minarets in the world. The complex also has several other ancient structures, including the Iron Pillar of Delhi, which is famous for its ability to resist rust even after 1600 years.

    Next, head to Humayun's Tomb, another UNESCO World Heritage Site and the final resting place of the Mughal emperor Humayun. The tomb is an excellent example of Mughal architecture and is surrounded by beautiful gardens.

    After all the sightseeing, head to Karim's, one of the oldest and most famous restaurants in Delhi, to enjoy some delicious Mughlai cuisine. The restaurant is known for its melt-in-your-mouth kebabs, biryanis, and curries.

    One of the most iconic landmarks of Delhi, the Red Fort is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. The majestic monument was built by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan and served as the residence of the emperors of the Mughal dynasty for nearly 200 years.

  5. 4:30PM: Akshardham Temple
    25 minutes (9.5 km) from Red Fort

    End your day by visiting the beautiful Akshardham Temple, a modern Hindu temple known for its stunning architecture and intricate carvings. The temple also has a musical fountain show, which is a must-see in the evening.

If you have more time, consider visiting the Lotus Temple, India Gate, or the National Museum. For a side trip, you can head to Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
