7-Day Adventure Itinerary: Bangalore to Ladakh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Bangalore to Manali
    1,936 km, approximately 38 hours via NH44 and NH3

    In the morning, drive towards Manali. Stop for lunch at a local dhaba on NH44. In the afternoon, take a break at the scenic Bhakra Nangal Dam. In the evening, reach Manali and explore the local market.

  2. Day 2: Manali to Jispa
    140 km, approximately 4 hours via Leh-Manali Highway

    In the morning, start the journey to Jispa. Stop at Rohtang Pass for a thrilling snow scooter ride. In the afternoon, visit Keylong Monastery and enjoy a hot cup of tea at a local café. In the evening, reach Jispa and rest at your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Jispa to Sarchu
    87 km, approximately 2.5 hours via Leh-Manali Highway

    Start early in the morning and cross Baralacha La Pass which is at an altitude of 16,040 feet. In the afternoon, explore the scenic Suraj Tal lake. In the evening, reach Sarchu and camp under the stars.

  4. Day 4: Sarchu to Leh
    250 km, approximately 8 hours via Leh-Manali Highway

    In the morning, cross the Gata Loops and reach the highest motorable pass, Tanglang La. In the afternoon, stop at Hemis Monastery to see the beautiful paintings and architecture. In the evening, reach Leh and rest at your hotel.

  5. Day 5: Leh to Nubra Valley
    120 km, approximately 4 hours via Khardung La

    In the morning, visit the famous Shanti Stupa for a panoramic view of Leh. In the afternoon, embark on a thrilling drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La Pass which is at an altitude of 18,380 feet. In the evening, enjoy a camel ride at the famous sand dunes of Hunder.

  6. Day 6: Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso
    274 km, approximately 9 hours via Shyok River

    Start early in the morning and drive towards Pangong Tso via the Shyok River. In the afternoon, enjoy a picnic lunch at the beautiful lake and take a dip in the crystal-clear water. In the evening, camp under the stars and enjoy a bonfire.

  7. Day 7: Pangong Tso to Leh
    160 km, approximately 6 hours via Chang La

    In the morning, start the journey back to Leh via Chang La Pass which is at an altitude of 17,590 feet. In the afternoon, visit the Hall of Fame Museum to pay tribute to the Indian Army. In the evening, explore the local market and indulge in some authentic Ladakhi food.

Recommendations:

If you have an extra day, visit the beautiful Tso Moriri lake. You can also go for a thrilling river rafting experience in Zanskar river. To maximize your fun, make sure to carry warm clothes, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a first aid kit. In case of altitude sickness, take proper medication and rest. Don't forget to carry your camera to capture the mesmerizing landscapes.
