Kedarnath: A Two-Day Adventure

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple

    In the morning, visit the famous Kedarnath Temple, which is one of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. For lunch, try some local delicacies like Kachmauli and Bhang ki Chutney. In the afternoon, visit the Gandhi Sarovar, a scenic lake located at an altitude of 4,000 mtrs. A trek to this lake will be worth your time as it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. As evening approaches, seek some peace at the Shankaracharya Samadhi, which is a memorial dedicated to the great philosopher Adi Shankara, who founded the Kedarnath temple.

  2. Day 2: Vasuki Tal

    In the morning, embark on a thrilling trek to the Vasuki Tal, a crystal-clear lake nestled amidst the snow-capped mountains. The trek is a bit challenging but the stunning views of the Himalayas make it worth the effort. Carry some snacks and water as there are no shops or restaurants on the way. After reaching the lake, you can spend some time admiring the breathtaking beauty of this serene place. Return to Kedarnath in the afternoon and visit the Bhairav Nath Temple, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva's fierce form, Bhairava. In the evening, visit the Triyuginarayan Temple, which has a fascinating legend associated with it. According to Hindu mythology, this is the place where Lord Shiva married Goddess Parvati.

If you have some extra time, you can consider visiting the nearby town of Guptkashi, which is famous for its ancient Vishwanath Temple. You can also plan a side-trip to the beautiful Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world.
