Kedarnath Nature Itinerary - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath Temple
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Kedarnath Helipad

    The Kedarnath Temple, located at the height of 3,583 meters, is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. This ancient temple, built in the 8th century, is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and beautiful landscapes. In the morning, you can witness the morning aarti ritual and seek blessings from Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, you can trek to Vasuki Tal, which is a beautiful high-altitude lake surrounded by mountains. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful sunset view from the Kedarnath Temple.

  2. Day 2: Chorabari Tal
    1 hour 15 minutes (7.7 miles) from Kedarnath Temple

    Chorabari Tal, also known as Gandhi Sarovar, is a beautiful lake located at an altitude of 4,000 meters. The lake is named after Mahatma Gandhi, who used to visit this place in his younger days. In the morning, you can trek to Chorabari Tal and enjoy the scenic beauty of the place. In the afternoon, you can visit the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to rare Himalayan species like musk deer, snow leopard, and black bear. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the bonfire at your hotel.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit Triyuginarayan Temple, which is located at a distance of 25 km from Kedarnath. This temple is believed to be the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married. You can also take a helicopter ride from Kedarnath to Phata and visit the famous Badrinath Temple. If you are interested in adventure activities, you can do camping, trekking, and river rafting in the nearby areas. Don't forget to try the local dishes like Kachmauli, Aloo ke Gutke, and Gahat ki Dal.
