4-Day South Korea Trip on a Shoestring Budget in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Seoul
    40 minutes (31 km) from Incheon International Airport

    Morning: Start the day with a visit to Gyeongbokgung Palace, the largest and most famous of Seoul's palaces. It is a magnificent example of traditional Korean architecture, set against the stunning backdrop of the mountains.
    Afternoon: Walk around the lively streets of Myeong-dong, a popular shopping district, and try some of the street food. Be sure to check out Namsan Tower for a panoramic view of the city.
    Evening: End the day with a visit to the lively Hongdae area, known for its street performances, bars, and clubs.

  2. Day 2: Busan
    2 hours 30 minutes (325 km) from Seoul by KTX train

    Morning: Start the day with a visit to Gamcheon Culture Village, a colourful hillside village with narrow streets and unique architecture. Don't forget to try the local delicacy, ssiat hotteok (sweet pancakes filled with seeds and nuts).
    Afternoon: Head to Haeundae Beach, one of Busan's most popular beaches. Take a stroll along the boardwalk and check out the cafes and restaurants.
    Evening: End the day with a visit to the buzzing Gwangalli Beach, known for its stunning night views of the Gwangan Bridge.

  3. Day 3: Jeju Island
    1 hour 10 minutes (460 km) from Busan by plane

    Morning: Start the day with a visit to Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Jeju's most famous landmarks. The peak is famous for its stunning sunrise views.
    Afternoon: Head to Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, another popular tourist attraction on the island. Enjoy the scenic views and take a walk along the beautiful walking trails.
    Evening: End the day with a visit to Jeju's famous night markets, filled with street food, souvenirs, and local products.

  4. Day 4: Gyeongju
    1 hour 20 minutes (90 km) from Busan by bus

    Morning: Start the day with a visit to Bulguksa Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Korea's most famous temples. Take a stroll through the beautiful gardens and admire the stunning architecture.
    Afternoon: Head to Anapji Pond, a beautiful pond surrounded by gardens and pavilions. The pond is especially beautiful during the autumn months.
    Evening: End the day with a visit to Yangdong Village, a traditional Korean village with over 500 years of history. Take a stroll through the narrow alleys and admire the traditional houses.
