7-Day Nature Itinerary in Uttrakhand - December 2023

  1. Day 1: Dehradun
    30 minutes (16.2 miles) from Jolly Grant Airport

    Visit the Robber's Cave, a natural cave formation with a picturesque stream flowing through it. In the afternoon, explore the Rajaji National Park and spot some exotic animals. Wrap up your day with a beautiful sunset at the Malsi Deer Park.

  2. Day 2: Rishikesh
    1 hour 20 minutes (34.2 miles) from Dehradun

    Start your day with a serene sunrise view at Triveni Ghat, followed by a refreshing bath in the holy river Ganges. Afternoon rafting on the Ganges with some thrilling rapids. In the evening visit the Beatles Ashram, meditate and enjoy the street food.

  3. Day 3: Auli
    9 hours (270 miles) from Rishikesh

    Auli is one of the best ski destinations in India, you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding and snow trekking here. Take a cable car ride, explore the gurson bugyal trek and enjoy the breathtaking view of Nanda Devi. End the day with star gazing, bonfire and hot chocolate.

  4. Day 4: Joshimath
    1 hour 20 minutes (33.5 miles) from Auli

    Visit the Narsingh temple, Kalpavriksha and explore the local market. Take a chair car ride to Auli, spend the day skiing and trekking. In the evening, visit the Shankaracharya temple for some peaceful moments and enjoy the beautiful sunset view.

  5. Day 5: Nainital
    9 hours (252 miles) from Joshimath

    Enjoy the scenic beauty of Naini lake from the Naini Peak, take a boat ride and explore the nature surrounding the lake. Visit the Eco Cave Gardens, Nainital Zoo and Hanuman Garhi temple. At night, enjoy a bonfire and barbecue dinner at your hotel.

  6. Day 6: Jim Corbett National Park
    4 hours 30 minutes (121 miles) from Nainital

    Start the day with a morning safari at Jim Corbett National Park, explore the flora and fauna. Visit the Corbett Falls and Garjia Devi temple. In the evening, enjoy the Kumaoni culture and cuisine.

  7. Day 7: Haridwar
    3 hours (85 miles) from Jim Corbett National Park

    Take a dip in the holy river Ganges, enjoy the morning aarti at Har ki Pauri Ghat. Visit the Mansa Devi temple and Chandi Devi temple by the cable car ride, take a stroll in the local market and explore the street food. End your day with a beautiful sunset view at the Daksh Mahadev temple.

Recommendations

Don't miss out on the Valley of Flowers trek, which is closed during December, but you can plan to visit it in between June and September. You can also visit the Badrinath and Kedarnath temple, which remains closed during winter. To maximize your fun, you can plan a night stay at a local village in Auli and enjoy the local culture. Don't forget to try the Garhwali cuisine and shop for souvenirs.
