3-Day Itinerary for Coorg, Ooty, and Kodaikanal in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Coorg
    2 hours and 45 minutes (116 km) from Mysore

    In the morning, head to Abbey Falls, one of Coorg's most popular attractions. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the falls and the surrounding coffee plantations. Then, head to the Namdroling Monastery, one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India. Here, you can witness the daily life of the monks and learn about their culture and traditions. In the afternoon, visit the Dubare Elephant Camp and engage in activities such as elephant bathing, feeding and riding. In the evening, take a stroll at the Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with a breathtaking view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Ooty
    4 hours and 40 minutes (186 km) from Coorg

    Begin your day with a visit to the Government Botanical Garden, home to over a thousand species of plants and trees. Then, take a ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which takes you through the picturesque landscapes of the Nilgiri Hills. For lunch, try the local cuisine at the Ooty Lake Food Court. After lunch, visit the Ooty Lake, where you can enjoy a boat ride. In the evening, head to the Doddabetta Peak, the highest peak in the Nilgiri Mountains, to witness the stunning sunset.

  3. Day 3: Kodaikanal
    7 hours and 20 minutes (290 km) from Ooty

    Visit the Kodaikanal Lake in the morning. Take a stroll around the lake and enjoy the serene atmosphere. Then, explore the Bryant Park, home to over 325 species of trees, shrubs and cacti. For lunch, head to the Cloud Street Café and try their delicious pizza. After lunch, visit the Bear Shola Falls, a picturesque waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Finally, end your day at the Coakers Walk, a scenic promenade with a panoramic view of the valley.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Madikeri Fort and the Talakaveri Wildlife Sanctuary in Coorg, the Pykara Waterfalls and the Wax World Museum in Ooty, and the Pillar Rocks and the Guna Cave in Kodaikanal.

If you're up for a side trip, visit the Bandipur National Park, which is a 2-hour drive from Ooty. Here, you can see wild elephants, tigers, and other wildlife in their natural habitat.
