Three-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Somnath & Dwarka in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Somnath
    1 hour 18 minutes ( 47.8 km) from Diu Airport

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the famous Somnath Temple that is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is known for its magnificent architecture and is a significant pilgrimage site for Hindus. After the temple visit, head to Triveni Sangam, where the three rivers Hiran, Kapila, and Saraswati meet. Take a dip in the holy waters, and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

    Afternoon: Head to Bhalka Tirtha, a place where Lord Krishna was mistakenly shot with an arrow by a hunter and left for his heavenly abode. Visit the nearby temple dedicated to Lord Krishna's deathbed. After that, head to the Somnath Beach, where you can relax and enjoy the sunset.

    Evening: Attend the Light and Sound Show at the Somnath Temple that depicts the history of the temple and Lord Shiva. The show takes place every day in both English and Hindi languages.

  2. Day 2: Somnath to Dwarka

  3. Day 3: Dwarka

    Evening: Attend the Aarti ceremony at the Dwarkadhish Temple, a grand ceremony that takes place every day in the evening. Witness the beautiful rituals and chants and feel the positive energy around you.

Recommendations

If you have some more time, then you can visit the Porbandar, a coastal city, and the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. The Kirti Mandir, a temple-like memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi, is a significant attraction. You can also visit Dakor, a small town famous for its temple dedicated to Lord Krishna.
