  1. Day 1: Arrival in Leh
    15 minutes (3 miles) from Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport

    After checking into your hotel and getting some rest, start your trip by visiting the Shanti Stupa. This stunning white-domed Buddhist monument offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.   2. Day 2: Monasteries and Palaces
    1 hour 20 minutes (47 miles) from Leh

    Start the day by visiting the Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest Buddhist monastery in Ladakh. Next, head to the Thiksey Monastery, which features a 40-foot-tall statue of Maitreya Buddha. After lunch, visit the Shey Palace, the former summer palace of the Ladakhi kings.
