4-Day Foodie Itinerary for Goa in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Spice Plantations and Local Markets
    45 minutes (16.5 miles) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, head to the Sahakari Spice Farm, where you can take a guided tour to learn about local spices like black pepper, cardamom and cinnamon. After the tour, enjoy a traditional Goan lunch at the farm. In the afternoon, head to the Mapusa Friday Market and explore the stalls selling local produce, spices, and handicrafts. End the day with dinner at Vinayak Family Restaurant, famous for their seafood and curries.

  2. Day 2: Panjim and Old Goa
    30 minutes (10.5 miles) from Mapusa Friday Market

    Start your day with breakfast at Cafe Tato, known for their Goan-style pao-bhaji. After breakfast, explore the Latin Quarter of Fontainhas in Panjim on foot, admiring the colourful Portuguese-style houses. In the afternoon, visit the UNESCO-listed Basilica of Bom Jesus and the Se Cathedral in Old Goa. End the day with dinner at Viva Panjim, a cosy restaurant known for their Goan fish curry, pork sorpotel and vindaloo.

  3. Day 3: Beaches and Shacks
    1 hour 10 minutes (27 miles) from Panjim

    Head to the picturesque Palolem Beach in the morning, known for its pristine sands and scenic views. Enjoy breakfast at Cafe Inn, a popular spot for pancakes and omelettes. Spend the day sunbathing, swimming and relaxing. In the evening, head to the beachside shacks for some traditional Goan seafood, like fish fry and prawn curry, and chilled beer. End the day with a sunset cruise on the Sal River.

  4. Day 4: Forts and Bakeries
    1 hour 20 minutes (37 miles) from Palolem Beach

    Start your day with breakfast at the legendary Cafe Central in Margao, known for their freshly-baked pao and delicious Goan sausages. After breakfast, head to the 17th-century Portuguese fort of Tiracol in North Goa, which has been converted into a heritage hotel. Enjoy the stunning views of the Arabian Sea from the fort. In the afternoon, explore the charming Latin Quarter of Loutolim and visit the famous bakery, Confeitaria 31 de Janeiro, for some traditional Goan sweets like bebinca and dodol. End the day with dinner at Gunpowder Restaurant in Assagao, famous for their Goan pork vindaloo and sorpotel.

Aside from the suggested itinerary, you can also visit the famous Dudhsagar Waterfalls, take a Spice Tour at Savoi Plantations, or attend a Feni-making workshop.
