Two-Day Adventure Itinerary in Wayanadu in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Meenmutty Falls
    1 hour 20 minutes (26.2 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Start the day early and drive to Meenmutty Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in Wayanadu. Take a 2 km trek through the forest, crossing streams and rocky terrain to reach the falls. The view of the falls cascading down from a height of 300 meters is spectacular. Afternoon: Drive to Soochipara Falls, a beautiful three-tiered waterfall, for a picnic lunch and some leisure time. After lunch, trek to the base of the falls and take a refreshing dip in the natural pool. Evening: Head to the Edakkal Caves, a prehistoric site famous for its ancient rock carvings. Trek up to the caves and explore the carvings that date back to 6000 BC.

  2. Day 2: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 10 minutes (20.8 miles) from Kalpetta

    Morning: Drive to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanadu, for a challenging trek. The trek takes around 3-4 hours and covers a distance of 9 km. The view from the top is breathtaking, with panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. Afternoon: After the trek, head to Pookode Lake for a relaxing afternoon. The freshwater lake is surrounded by lush greenery and offers boating and other activities. It is also a great place for birdwatching. Evening: End the day with a visit to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Enjoy a scenic drive to the dam and take a walk along the reservoir. The dam also offers boating facilities.
