4-Day Family Friendly Mumbai Itinerary in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Gateway of India
    30 minutes (7.4 km) from Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Mumbai

    In the morning, visit the Gateway of India, an iconic landmark overlooking the Arabian Sea. Take a boat ride to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful rock-cut temples. Enjoy a vegetarian lunch at Hotel Ramashray, a famous eatery in the area. In the afternoon, visit the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a historic railway station with Victorian Gothic architecture. End the day with a stroll at Marine Drive, a scenic promenade and a popular spot for locals to watch the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Siddhivinayak Temple and Nehru Science Centre

    In the morning, visit the Siddhivinayak Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and known for its beautiful architecture and spiritual vibe.   4. Day 4: Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Film City

Take a toy train ride and visit the Kanheri Caves, an ancient Buddhist rock-cut cave complex. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the park. In the afternoon, visit the Film City, a popular spot for Bollywood film shoots. Take a guided tour of the sets and studios and learn about the history of Indian cinema. End the day with dinner at the famous eatery, Gajalee, known for its seafood.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Haji Ali Dargah, an iconic mosque surrounded by the Arabian Sea. You can also take a side trip to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with beautiful rock-cut temples. To maximize your fun, try some street food at the various food stalls in Mumbai, such as Vada Pav and Pav Bhaji. For a unique experience, take a Bollywood tour and visit the various studios where Indian films are made.
