Exploring Georgia in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site
    10 minutes (2.5 miles) from Downtown Atlanta

    In the morning, explore the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr. and visit his tomb. In the afternoon, walk along the street he grew up on and visit the church where he preached. In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of the nearby restaurants.

  2. Day 2: Hike to the Amicalola Falls
    1 hour 45 minutes (70 miles) from Atlanta

    In the morning, drive to the Amicalola Falls State Park and hike to the waterfall. In the afternoon, take a picnic lunch and relax by the falls. In the evening, head to Dahlonega for dinner at one of the local restaurants.

  3. Day 3: Explore the city of Savannah
    3 hours 30 minutes (250 miles) from Amicalola Falls

    In the morning, stroll through the Forsyth Park and visit the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist. In the afternoon, take a tour of the historic district and visit the Mercer Williams House Museum. In the evening, enjoy dinner at one of the local seafood restaurants.

  4. Day 4: Visit the Okefenokee Swamp
    3 hours 30 minutes (220 miles) from Savannah

Other places to consider visiting include the Stone Mountain Park, the Jekyll Island, and the Tallulah Gorge State Park.
