5-Day Relaxing Coorg Udupi Itinerary for July 2023

  1. Day 1: Coorg
    Arrive in Coorg (nearest airport - Mysore), 3 hours and 30 minutes (110 km) from Mysore airport.

    Coorg, also known as Kodagu, is a beautiful hill station famous for its coffee plantations, waterfalls, and trekking trails. Spend your morning indulging in a cup of freshly brewed coffee while enjoying the serene surroundings. Visit Abbey Falls in the afternoon, which is a stunning waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. In the evening, take a peaceful walk around the Raja's Seat, a picturesque garden overlooking the hills.

  2. Day 2: Coorg
    30 minutes (12 km) from Raja's Seat

    Start your day by visiting the Namdroling Monastery, also known as Golden Temple. This monastery is a beautiful example of Tibetan architecture and is known for its magnificent statues and paintings. In the afternoon, visit the Dubare Elephant Camp and experience the joy of being around gentle giants. End your day with a visit to the Madikeri Fort, an ancient fort with a museum that showcases the history of Coorg.

  3. Day 3: Udupi
    4 hours and 30 minutes (200 km) from Madikeri Fort

    Take a scenic drive to Udupi, a coastal town famous for its beautiful beaches and temples. In the morning, visit the Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, a famous temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. In the afternoon, head to Malpe Beach and enjoy the sun, sand, and sea. In the evening, take a stroll around the St. Mary's Island and witness the stunning rock formations.

  4. Day 4: Udupi
    40 minutes (18 km) from St. Mary's Island

    Visit the Kaup Beach in the morning and enjoy the calm and serene atmosphere. In the afternoon, visit the Anegudde Vinayaka Temple, a temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is known for its spiritual significance. In the evening, visit the Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village, an open-air museum showcasing the traditional architecture and lifestyle of Karnataka.

  5. Day 5: Coorg
    6 hours (310 km) from Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village

    Drive back to Coorg and visit the Talakaveri, the source of the river Kaveri. This place has a significant religious value and is surrounded by beautiful hills. In the afternoon, visit the Nagarhole National Park, which is a beautiful wildlife reserve and is home to a wide range of animals. End your day with a visit to the Chiklihole Reservoir, a beautiful lake surrounded by greenery.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, you can visit the Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement, which is the second-largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet. You can also take a side trip to the Jog Falls, which is the second-highest waterfall in India. To maximize your fun, you can go on a river rafting adventure in Coorg or try some delicious local cuisine in Udupi. Lastly, don't forget to try the famous Coorg coffee, which is one of the best in India.
