Transportation

Traveling to all these places would require renting a car or taking a bus. Car rentals tend to be relatively affordable, and this will allow you more freedom to explore at your own pace. The cost for car rentals is about $40-$80 per day depending on preferences. Buses might be cheaper (between $20-$30 for a long trip), although they might not fit your schedule, and you might not be able to stop where you want.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, consider visiting Taupo for some bungee jumping or sky diving activities. If you have less time, it's best to drop or combine some activities depending on your preference, although we recommend not cutting Tongariro National Park, Franz Josef Glacier, and Milford Sound Cruise.

Airports

The main international airport is Auckland International Airport (AKL), which is located approximately 21 km south of Auckland. The second major airport is Christchurch International Airport (CHC) located 12 km to the northwest of the city center. Wellington International Airport (WLG) is located on the south coast, approximately 8 km from the city center. Queenstown International Airport (ZQN) is located near Frankton, a few miles from downtown Queenstown. All airports have excellent transport connections, making it easy to get to and from the city.
