North Sikkim Itinerary for May 2024

  1. Day 1: Lachung
    5 hours (77 km) from Gangtok

    Start your morning with a visit to the Yumthang Valley, also known as the Valley of Flowers. Admire the stunning rhododendron and primula flowers while enjoying a picnic breakfast. In the afternoon, visit the Lachung Monastery and learn about the Buddhist culture and traditions. End your day with a relaxing soak in the hot springs.

  2. Day 2: Lachen
    2 hours (47 km) from Lachung

    Start your day early with a drive to Gurudongmar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. Marvel at the crystal clear waters surrounded by snow-capped peaks. After lunch, visit the Lachen Monastery and learn about the rituals and customs of the monks. End your day with a traditional Sikkimese meal.

  3. Day 3: Thangu Valley
    2 hours (31 km) from Lachen

    Start your day with a scenic drive to Thangu Valley, located at an altitude of 13,500 feet. Enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayas and spot some rare species of birds like the snow partridge and Tibetan snowcock.   4. Day 4: Mangan

If you have extra time, consider a side trip to the Zuluk Loop and witness the stunning views of the Eastern Himalayas. You can also visit the Kabi Lungchok, a historic site where the treaty of brotherhood between the Lepchas and Bhutias was signed.
