Macleodganj and Palampur 3-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: McLeodganj
    20 minutes (5.2 miles) from Dharamshala

    In the morning, visit the Tsuglagkhang Complex, the residence of the Dalai Lama. Take a walk around the temple and enjoy the peacefulness of the surroundings. After lunch, head over to the Bhagsu waterfalls. It is a beautiful waterfall, surrounded by lush greenery. In the evening, explore the local market, and try some delicious Tibetan dishes.

  2. Day 2: Palampur
    1 hour 5 minutes (28.4 miles) from McLeodganj

    In the morning, visit the famous tea gardens in Palampur. Take a walk around the gardens and learn about the tea-making process. After lunch, head over to the Neugal Cafe. It is a beautiful cafe surrounded by hills and has a stunning view of the valley. In the evening, visit the Saurabh Van Vihar park, a beautiful park that has a lot of greenery and a small pond.

  3. Day 3: McLeodganj
    1 hour 10 minutes (24.3 miles) from Palampur

    In the morning, visit the Namgyal Monastery, one of the largest Tibetan monasteries outside of Tibet. After lunch, head over to the Dharamkot village. It is a small village, surrounded by beautiful mountains and has a lot of cafes and restaurants. In the evening, visit the Dal Lake, a beautiful lake surrounded by deodar trees.

You can also visit the Kangra Fort, one of the oldest forts in India, and the Masroor Rock Cut Temple, a group of monolithic rock-cut temples, both located near Dharamshala. You can also take a drive to Bir Billing, a famous paragliding spot, located 1 hour 45 minutes (45.4 miles) from McLeodganj. To maximize your fun, you can book a guided trek to Triund, a beautiful trek that offers stunning views of the mountains. Don't forget to try some local cuisine, like momos, thukpa, and butter tea.
