Family-Friendly 6-Day Itinerary: Plan a trip to Puri via Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Bhubaneswar
    10 minutes (2.9 km) from Biju Patnaik International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Lingaraj Temple, an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Afternoon can be spent at the Regional Museum of Natural History exploring the diverse flora and fauna of Odisha. In the evening, visit the ISKCON Temple and enjoy the mesmerizing Aarti ceremony.

  2. Day 2: Bhubaneswar to Konark
    2 hours (65 km) from Bhubaneswar

    In the morning, head to the magnificent Udayagiri and Khandagiri Caves. The rock-cut architecture and ancient inscriptions are a sight to behold. Drive to Konark and visit the Sun Temple which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the afternoon at the Chandrabhaga Beach and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Bay of Bengal. Witness the light and sound show in the evening at the Konark temple.

  3. Day 3: Chilika Lake
    1 hour 30 minutes (60 km) from Konark

    In the morning, drive to the picturesque Chilika Lake, the largest coastal lagoon in India and a paradise for birdwatchers. Take a boat ride to spot dolphins and explore the Nalabana Bird Sanctuary. Stop by the Kalijai Temple on the island in the lake. Return to Puri for the night.

  4. Day 4: Puri
    In Puri

    Visit the famous Jagannath Temple in the morning. It is one of the Char Dham Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. Spend the afternoon at the Puri Beach and indulge in some water sports activities. Take a stroll in the evening at the Puri Beach Market and try some local delicacies.

  5. Day 5: Raghurajpur and Puri
    1 hour (20 km) from Puri

    In the morning, visit the Raghurajpur Artist Village, known for its Pattachitra paintings and traditional artisanal works. Head back to Puri and visit the Gundicha Temple and the Lokanath Temple. In the evening, relax at the hotel or visit the local markets for some last-minute souvenirs.

  6. Day 6: Departure
    1 hour (33 km) from Biju Patnaik International Airport

    Depart for Bhubaneswar and stop by the Dhauli Hill and Shanti Stupa. It is a significant Buddhist site with a rock edict of Emperor Ashoka. Enjoy the scenic drive to the airport for the departure flight.

You can explore the Nandankanan Zoological Park on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar if you're interested in wildlife.
