Cultural Immersion Itinerary: Delhi, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Prayagraj, Kedarnath in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Delhi
    Indira Gandhi International Airport to Delhi (18.5 miles) - 1 hour

    Visit the Akshardham Temple, the largest Hindu temple in the world, showcasing India's ancient architecture, traditions and timeless spirituality. In the afternoon, explore the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and symbol of India's power. In the evening, take a walk through Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi.

  2. Day 2: Haridwar
    Delhi to Haridwar (151 miles) - 5 hours

    Begin the day at Har Ki Pauri, where the Ganges is believed to enter the plains. Witness the Ganga Aarti, an evening prayer ritual with lamps, fire, and flowers. During the day, visit the Chandi Devi Temple, Mansa Devi Temple, and Maya Devi Temple, all known for their religious significance. Walk through the narrow lanes and try out some local street food in the evening.

  3. Day 3: Rishikesh
    Haridwar to Rishikesh (19.7 miles) - 1 hour

    Begin the day with a visit to the Triveni Ghat, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. Head to the Parmarth Niketan Ashram and take part in the Ganga Havan ceremony. Visit the Beatles Ashram, where the famous band meditated in the 1960s. End the day with a dip in the Ganges and enjoy the sunset.

  4. Day 4: Prayagraj
    Rishikesh to Prayagraj (304 miles) - 7 hours

    Visit the Allahabad Fort, which has been a symbol of power since ancient times, and explore the Ashoka Pillar, Akbar's Palace, and the Patalpuri Temple. Head to the Triveni Sangam, a confluence of three rivers, and take a boat ride. In the evening, visit the Khusrau Bagh, a beautiful garden with tombs and mausoleums of Mughal emperors.

  5. Day 5: Kedarnath
    Prayagraj to Kedarnath (230 miles) - 9 hours

    Begin the day with a scenic drive to Gaurikund, the base camp of Kedarnath. Trek upwards to Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Take a dip in the Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring with medicinal properties. Enjoy the serene beauty of the Himalayas and head back to the hotel after darshan.

  6. Day 6: Kedarnath
    Explore the surroundings of Kedarnath

    Visit the Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake with a scenic view of Chaukhamba peaks. Trek to the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, home to rare and endangered species like the Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, and musk deer. If time permits, visit the Shankaracharya Samadhi, the final resting place of Adi Shankaracharya.

  7. Day 7: Return to Delhi
    Kedarnath to Delhi (326 miles) - 11 hours

    Depart from Kedarnath and head back to Delhi. Spend the remaining time exploring local markets, like Sarojini Nagar and Janpath, and buy some souvenirs. In the evening, visit India Gate, a war memorial and one of Delhi's most famous landmarks, and enjoy the street food.

You can also consider visiting the Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, and Qutub Minar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take a side trip to Agra and visit the Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. To maximize your fun, try out some adventure activities like river rafting, bungee jumping, and trekking.
