6-Day Adventure Itinerary for Shiraz

  • Day 1: Persepolis

    Hafezieh is the tomb of Hafez, a celebrated Persian poet. It's a peaceful and serene place that has inspired generations of Iranians. You can also find small bookshops inside where you can buy poetry books of Hafez's work.

  • Day 3: Vakil Bazaar
    15 minutes (4.6 miles) from Hafezieh

    The Vakil Bazaar is a traditional market full of small shops selling a range of things from spices and textiles to jewellery and crafts. It's a fantastic place to explore and get lost in the maze of alleys while bargaining with shopkeepers.

  • Day 4: Mount Derak
    1 hour 15 minutes (44.7 miles) from Vakil Bazaar

    If you love hiking and breathtaking views, then Mount Derak is a must-visit. The hiking trail is challenging, but once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding landscape. It is the second-highest peak in Fars province.

  • Day 5: Nasir al-Mulk Mosque
    30 minutes (5.9 miles) from Mount Derak

    The Nasir al-Mulk Mosque, also known as the Pink Mosque, is a beautiful mosque that stands out for its colourful stained glass windows. The sun shines through the windows in the early morning and bathes the mosque's interior in a mesmerising rainbow of colours.

  • Day 6: Qavam House
    25 minutes (4.4 miles) from the Nasir al-Mulk Mosque

    The Qavam House, also known as the Naranjestan Museum, is an elegant historical house which reflects life during the Qajar period. The beautiful Persian architecture, mirrored walls, beautiful courtyards, and artistic tilework are some of the things you can see during the visit.

Transportation

The most convenient way to get around Shiraz is by taxi or private car rental. Fares are relatively cheap, and the traffic is not too congested outside of rush hours. A taxi from the city centre to Persepolis costs around 500,000 rials.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, you can add a visit to the Eram Garden, the Tomb of Saadi, and the Pink Lake. If you have less time, you can skip Mount Derak and Qavam House. Please note that the opening hours of the attractions may change, so it's best to check before planning your visit.

Shiraz International Airport (SYZ) is the main airport serving the city, located around 9 miles north-west of the city centre.
