Cheap 2-Day Matheran Trip in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Sunset Point & Charlotte Lake
    20 minutes (1.3 miles) from Matheran Railway Station

    Morning: Enjoy the sunrise at Louisa Point, a perfect spot to start your day. Then, head to Echo Point to hear your voice echo and take in the stunning views. Next, make your way to the Monkey Point, which is known for its abundance of monkeys that are friendly but mischievous.

    Afternoon: Visit the Sunset Point to see the sun going down. The best time to visit is around 5 PM. After that, head to Charlotte Lake. Surrounded by lush green forests, it is an ideal spot for nature lovers. Take a boat ride or just relax by the lake and enjoy the serene atmosphere.

    Evening: Return to the Sunset Point to watch the sunset again. It looks even more beautiful during the golden hour. After that, you can go back to the town and explore the local markets. You can find a variety of souvenirs to take back home.

  2. Day 2: Alexander Point & Porcupine Point
    30 minutes (1.9 miles) from Charlotte Lake

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the Alexander Point. It offers a beautiful view of Garbut Point, Chowk Point, and Karjat. After that, head to the Rambagh Point, which is famous for its lush greenery and panoramic views of the valley.

    Afternoon: Visit the Porcupine Point, also known as the Sunset Point. It offers an amazing view of the sunset and the valley. Next, visit the One Tree Hill Point, which has only one tree on the hilltop. The view from here is breathtaking.

    Evening: Head back to the town and visit the Panorama Point, the highest point in Matheran. It offers an amazing view of the Sahyadri range. After that, enjoy the local street food and interact with the locals to know more about their culture and traditions.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can include a visit to the Madhavji Point and the Khandala Point. Also, don't miss the Matheran Toy Train ride, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can also go for a trek to the Garbett Point, which is a bit challenging but worth it.

If you want to take a side trip, you can visit the nearby hill stations like Lonavala and Khandala. They offer a variety of attractions like waterfalls, forts, and caves. To maximize your fun, you can include adventure activities like rock climbing and rappelling.
