5-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary for Cherrapunji in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Living Root Bridges
    1 hour 30 minutes (33.9 km) from Shillong

    In the morning, take a shared taxi to Tyrna village and start the trek to the double-decker living root bridge. You'll pass through lush green forests and several unique root bridges.   2. Day 2: Mawsmai Cave and Arwah Cave

  3. Day 3: Dainthlen Falls and Thangkharang Park

  4. Day 4: Nongriat Village and Double-Decker Living Root Bridge

    Take a shared taxi to Tyrna village and start the trek to Nongriat village. Visit the natural pool, Rainbow Falls and then hike to the Double-Decker Living Root Bridge.   5. Day 5: Wei Sawdong Falls and Khasi Culture Centre
    1 hour 20 minutes (32.5 km) from Cherrapunji

    Start the day with a visit to Wei Sawdong Falls, which is composed of three cascading falls. Take a dip in the pool at the bottom of the falls if you'd like. Afterward, head to the Khasi Culture Centre to learn about Khasi culture and traditions. End the day with a relaxing dinner at Cherrapunji and pack for your departure the next day.

If you have extra time, consider visiting Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India. You can also take a drive to Mawlynnong, a picturesque village known for its cleanliness and living root bridges. For a more adrenaline-pumping experience, try zip-lining over the valleys and waterfalls at Mawkdok Dympep Valley.
