Italy Dominates Plantrip.io as Travelers Seek Pasta Classes, Wine Tours, and the Amalfi Coast

Published March 6, 2026

Italy surged to the top of traveler wishlists on Plantrip.io in the last 24 hours, as users created 86 new itineraries dated March 6, 2026. Multiple 12-day plans zeroed in on Rome, Venice, and Florence with add-ons to the Amalfi Coast, signaling a strong preference for classic cities paired with coastal escapes.

What’s driving the rush: travelers are prioritizing hands-on experiences and local flavor. Repeated requests called out pasta-making classes, gondola rides in Venice, historical tours such as the Vatican and Colosseum, private guiding options, and regional wine tours. Many plan to save on airfare by flying into Milan and favor Airbnbs and neighborhood trattorias over marquee tourist dining.

Greece also featured prominently, with several weeklong plans from March 7–14 that sandwich island time between Athens arrivals and departures. Mykonos and Paros are the most cited island stops, indicating a quick-hop Aegean circuit anchored by a single day of big-city sightseeing in the capital.

Across the map, North America and Asia itineraries showed niche momentum. A multi-stop Seattle–Portland road swing in late April appeared several times, while a New Mexico plan centered on a flower-arranging retreat at Georgia O’Keeffe’s home split arrivals between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. In Asia, users plotted Shanghai-to-Hong Kong sequences with a Hainan wedding stop, plus halal-friendly Hong Kong stays with camera market crawls and day trips to Macau and Shenzhen.

Closer to home, Indian travelers mapped a dense spread: weekend getaways to Gokarna (with and without temple visits), Jaipur two-day city runs, coastal drives from Naples along the Amalfi Coast to Palermo, Uttarakhand and Himachal circuits, and short spiritual routes such as Gandhinagar–Ujjain–Indore–Omkareshwar. Quick-hit escapes to Nagaon in Maharashtra, Aizawl in Mizoram, and Iloilo City also appeared, alongside ambitious multi-country Europe honeymoons and Switzerland’s Jungfrau stays based in Lauterbrunnen.
