Japan emerged as a major focus of travel planning over the past 24 hours, as 142 new itineraries took shape on Plantrip.io. Fukuoka drew interest for a seven-night stay, while travelers also mapped out wide-ranging Japanese journeys spanning Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, Fuji and island destinations—often blending temples, food, theme parks and rail travel.
Hiroshima featured in particularly detailed plans, with travelers scheduling visits to Miyajima’s Itsukushima Shrine, Daisho-in Temple, the Peace Memorial Park, Atomic Bomb Dome, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and Mazda’s factory tour. Elsewhere in Japan, first-time visitors are prioritising Disney parks, Universal Studios Japan, Weta-style interactive experiences, traditional shrines and carefully timed bullet-train connections.
European itineraries showed an appetite for both grand city breaks and multi-country routes. Zurich appeared in a three-day June plan built around Old Town walks, lake swimming, public transport and possible mountain excursions—reflected in packing lists featuring hiking shoes, high-SPF sunscreen and waterproof layers. London, Munich, Rome, Lisbon, Copenhagen, Paris, Barcelona and Stockholm also appeared among travellers’ requested stops.
Short breaks and practical regional journeys were equally prominent. Plans ranged from a Manchester weekend escape and a three-day Bangkok trip using only public transport to drives through Gujarat, the Black Hills, Minnesota’s fall-colour routes and India’s temple cities. Couples were also planning honeymoons in Bali and Mauritius, while family groups looked to Dubai, New York, Oahu, Thailand and Japan for activity-filled holidays.
Across the day’s planning activity, travellers showed a clear preference for trips with a strong sense of place: local food in Bangkok and Dubai, coastal downtime in Goa and Santa Barbara, cultural heritage in Kyoto and Hiroshima, and outdoor experiences from Newfoundland hiking trails to Switzerland’s alpine rail routes.
